Back to Socks

Last week I devoted all my knitting time and attention to the
Diamond Lace Socks by Qianer Huang. This was for a Flash Knit-Along hosted by Eat.Sleep.Knit.

I was excited to try and am completed proud to say I knit a pair of socks in less than a week! I cast on Monday, February 4 and cast off Sunday, February 10.

I used Manos del Uruguay Alegria in the Turmeric colorway. It’s outside my usual colorway choice. Originally I started a Wonder Woman shawl with this yarn and reclaimed it when I ripped out that project, knowing I wouldn’t wear it. This is my second pair of socks knit in Alegria and certainly not the last. They feel wonderful!

Knitting a pair of socks in a week was fun, but I have missed working on my other projects. I will not be someone who does the 52 Pair Plunge (pair of socks each week)! Last year I was pretty good with a pair of socks each month, until around October. I started a pair of socks with Crazy Dog Yarns Peace, Love, and Lobster, that I purchased at Rhinebeck. I tried to knit on a 9″ circular and didn’t really enjoy it. I switched to Magic Loop, finished the first sock, and it’s been waiting for a mate. In need of a plain knitting project I picked it back up again and finally it’s done!

This self-striping set came with a mini-skein of yellow for contrasting cuffs, I only used it on one heel. I forgot about it on the second sock. Oops.
