A Pile of Yarn, Books, and Plans

Who’s surprised? Not me. I can’t really show you my WIP this week, as it is sample knitting. Also it needs to be finished and sent back, so I’m knitting hardcore on that! Winding the yarn does make me stop, stand up, take a stretch break from being hunched over and knitting, so that’s good. The brown yarn on the bottom is Harrisville Watershed in Elm, that’s the sample. The blue-black is Dream in Color  in Aqua Jet, intended to be a Narragansett Sweater for the second project of Camp Loopy.  Books on my table this week include: It Starts with Food, Practical Paleo, Little One Yard Wonders was an impulse grab because I hadn’t seen that one yet, and Ten-Year Nap was on the library’s table of summer reads “If you liked that, you’ll like this”. I recently finished Show Me A Story, a collection of interviews with Caldecott Award Winners. It was interesting, but what struck me more was a lot of those illustrators are rather grumpy.

There are other virtual events coming up in July, have you heard about them? I originally figured I would do Tour de Loops, which is a great idea for the non-spinners out there. I also bought Stacy’s new dinosaur pattern to make for Nate. When I showed him the picture he said, “Stegosaurus! Now show me the t-rex.” Sorry buddy, she doesn’t have one yet! The red and grey yarn (both Spud & Chloe Sweater) will be turned into a Stegy.

I was talking with a co-worker and I may have said I would also try Tour de Fleece and use it as an opportunity to practice my spindle spinning. I’ll be a rookie, spinning on Team Your Mom! If that goes well, I may consider signing up for Spinzilla. I have the Craftsy class “From Fluff to Stuff”, so I’m hoping to re-watch that on Friday or Saturday and use the spindle for 10-15 minutes each day of the Tour. How about you?

  1. I love Dream in Color yarns. Will make a lovely sweater. Fun to see I’m not the only one with several books to read too. Happy knitting!
