I Want My Hat Back

Have You Seen My Hat? *

I think I lost my hat. I make a lot of hats and wear a lot of virtual ones. I really only wear one hat.

This one, my Solitude Dots. I bought the kit at Rhinebeck in 2014. I know I wore it to the Y while taking one of the kids to swim class. I don’t remember wearing it home. It’s not in the hat keeping spots. I called to ask about the lost and found and nothing matching my hat was there. I’ll check again this weekend when the next kid goes for a swim. If someone grabbed it after I left it behind, I hope they are finding it warm and getting good use out of it. It’s a great hat!

It’s not a good feeling to be missing your hat the night before another nor’easter. I wound up a skein of Malabrigo Rios and cast on for a Barley hat. The silver lining here is that the yarn didn’t make it into the stash, I’ll get points/credit in the yarnathon, and I do now have a hat.

It’s cozy and I love the color (Deep Sea Dash) that matches my coat. Buuuuut. The size is still off. I made the Adult L for my head circumference so the width is fine, but I think I would like this better if it were an inch or so shorter. There’s a slight slouch of fabric in the back and I have to make sure I adjust the hat when it’s on, otherwise, that part sticks up oddly. Will I rip it back and redo? Probably not.

Apologies to Jon Klassen. Go buy his books.
