Winter Prep

What is it about warm summer days that have me dreaming about fall knits? In the last week, I completed a bulky yarn cowl and cast on a sweater!

I have 3 skeins of Lorna’s Laces Cloudgate still hanging out under my desk, leftover from a blanket I knit for my mom last year. Getting Warmer is a great, easy, free pattern that I thought would be a good layer to have. I could see wearing it while I’m working at my desk, knitting on the couch, or even a layer while waiting outside for the school bus to return.

Cute and cozy, right? Looks like I might have to share this project.

Motivated by new badges for the Yarnathon, I decided to start the Snow Thank You Sweater. I stashed Three Irish Girls Springvale DK for this sweater last year and I’m really enjoying working with it. The color is amazing. This sweater has a new-to-me construction and even though I did read through the pattern before starting, I couldn’t picture how it was going to work.

Let me just say, this feels like magic. An afterthought neck? Brilliant. I feel like I’ve just about got a whole sweater, even though I have nearly a foot of stockinette on the body and then the sleeves to do. I absolutely love it!

  1. Lorelei is so big! It does look like a comfy layer piece….did you see we are getting a Stars Hollow Yarn store in the fall in Washington?
