Winding Down to Start Up Again

Jumping right back in with a WIP Wednesday / Yarn Along project & book post, following an unintentional blog break.

Nutmegknitter WIP and yarn along Dec 30

On my needles now are a sample knit and my last project for Loopy Academy Sophomore Year / Semester 3. I’ve also picked up and put down a pair of fingerless mittens for Nate. We finally had our first “winter weather event” yesterday – the ugly wintry-mix-turning to rain – so luckily he hasn’t truly been in need of them, but he keeps asking after them so I should move along on the second one. There’s also a sample knit I would love to be finished with already and move it on out of here.

Reading wise I just finished The Hypnotist’s Love Story – it was ok. Towards the end I was getting a little bored with it and skimmed a bunch.  That was book #14 for me this year, my GoodReads goal was 15.  I’m mostly ok with that, given how everything seems busier lately and let’s not forget how many books I gave up on / didn’t finish. I love this time of year for books and book lists.  The NPR Book Concierge is one of my favorites, especially for finding items I certainly missed. This week I noticed the Pop Sugar 2016 Book List and the 2016 Reading List from Modern Mrs. Darcy.  A few books that I already have in mind that would cross a few items off each of those lists include:  A Visit From the Goon Squad, The Interestings, Dark Matter & the Dinosaurs, Yes Please, Harriet the Spy, Mary Poppins, maybe the Outlander series… I’m sure I’ll pick up and discover others.

  1. I LOVE what you are knitting with the blue yarn! Such a beautiful colour and I love the pattern. Is that the sample project?? Wow! I love books so much I had to take a boo at your Good Reads list and noticed we like a lot of the same ones so I added you. 🙂 I love the idea of making a reading goal for the next year. I never keep track of what I read when – except for on my GR list so it makes sense!

    1. Thanks so much! The blue is my 3rd project fro Loopy Academy – it should be done shortly! Happy Reading – looking forward to connecting with you on GR!

  2. I love all the best-of lists this time of year too! Book lists are my favorite, of course, and I inevitably add way too many things to my to-read list. I know about the NPR Book Concierge but I’ll have to check out the 2016 lists you mentioned!

  3. I tired of that book also! Read the end and called it done! I am re-reading her book “Big Little Lies” – really liked it the first time around. And I liked her book – The Last Anniversary….
