WIP Wednesday Mojo Kickstart

may 20 yarn along wip wednesday

I can’t quite put my finger on the why, but my reading mojo has just not been there. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is interesting but takes its time, and when I have a few moments to read, what I’m reading is just ok. When I have to stop reading to switch gears to do whatever else, I’m ok to do it. I am not left with the feeling that I wish I had more time to read! I stopped by the library yesterday and took a look at the quick picks, the new books you can borrow for seven days, no renewals. I selected The Husband’s Secret – hoping it would grab my attention and with the upcoming holiday weekend I would have a bit more time to indulge in reading. I read 8 pages yesterday before preschool pickup, read another 20 pages this morning and can’t stop thinking about the story and the questions posed already. I’m hooked. Phew.

The pile of projects continues. I pulled my daughter’s blanket out of hibernation and added on a few more colors, so there is now a full rainbow repeat finished. I am trying to decide if I should add a stripe of white before starting again, or save white / grey for some sort of border… Anyway, the repeat needs to be repeated 3 or 4 more times. The pattern is the Happy Throw, same as Nate’s Dinosaur Blanket, also in Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn and I love love love this project. Hopefully it will get more attention. The weather cooled off a bit, so I started the next panel for my Age Before Beauty blanket. The blue sample knit is coming along and my second BonBon mitt is so close to being done, it just needs the time devoted to it (as oppposed to a row here or there).

  1. Oh my I love that blanket!! It’s so striking! I had “Guernsey” as an audiobook from our library and listened to a few chapters and then took it back. If I’m totally bored by a book a few chapters in I no longer make myself push through it. I had heard such good things about it but I could tell it wasn’t going to really be the right thing for me at that time.
I wonder if that’s what the “Lucky Day” shelf that just went up at my library is… a quick short checkout system! I keep forgetting to ask my librarian but have been wondering what it is!

  2. The Husband’s Secret is an excellent can’t put it down choice for holiday reading. I came up with a lot of potential secrets, and never guessed it. Enjoy!
